Its not everyday you get to spend a fun filled weekend at a charming hotel in a big city. But that’s exactly what John and I got to do this past weekend. It was a blast to be able to tend to the Super Bowl activities and still be in the heart of Minneapolis. When we arrived to the Grand Hotel in Minneapolis, it was very inviting and I adored the historic charm that swallowed you at first glance. Anything with a vintage flair is a huge hit in my book. Upon entering the Grand Hotel, there was a stunning staircase encompassed by modern decor and the sweetest staff. Seriously, I do not know where they found such a wonderful and accommodating staff! They are all so nice. After being greeted with warm smiles and complimentary wine, and after setting a reservation at Murrays, John and I headed up to our room (with a view!). I loved the layout and the look of the room that was surrounded by windows. We were fortunate enough to enjoy a corner room where sunshined poured in. John and I proceeded to get ready and headed downstairs to the SIX15 bar. Again, John and I indulged in some yummy drinks and delicious small plates before we left to tour what the city had to offer for the Super Bowl. It was so convenient having the Kimpton Grand Hotel just a hop, skip and a jump away from everything. To warm up from our quick jaunt, we hopped into Ike’s (a classic bar in Minneapolis with a Frank Sinatra feel—-right up my alley!) As we switched stories with the bartender about the Super Bowl we decided to roam the area. Just around the corner lies Nicolett Mall where we saw Chris Hawkeye perform on the Verizon Stage and we also walked past quite a few magical ice sculptures! It was so fun to take everything in and experience what Minneapolis had to offer for the Super Bowl. But John and I soon had to boogie our way to Murray’s for our dinner reservation. Which is so romantic and cozy, and a mouth watering steak to die for!
For dessert, John and I opted for a cup of hot cocoa from Starbucks as we walked back to the Kimpton Grand Hotel. It was the perfect treat to end our night and help keep us warm from the bitter wind! I was sooo cold when we got back to our room, so naturally I cranked up the heat and drew a bath to relax for bed. Another plus, the TV that was perfectly positioned above the tub! I could have stayed in there for hours.
I woke up excited Saturday morning because all I could think about was hitting up the swimming pool and then grabbing some coffee (obviously). And let me tell you…. what an escape! The pool area was so pretty, it looked like something from a story book–just perfect.
Overall, our stay was beyond anything we could have asked for and I cannot wait to go back!
Thank you Kimpton Grand Hotel for sponsoring this post
